    Hey guys,
I've got a possible trade up and here's what I was offered. Does anyone have any info/details on this "limited edition" SS2?
Apparently it has an 18V EQ and EMGs, wenge/bubinga neck and from the late 90s. Was this a standard release or do you think it's a one off?
    Thanks for looking!

    Hi,

Don´t know if it´s a SE, but, it sure is a Custom Shop bass, with an awesome quilted maple top. Why don´t you ask the owner the serial number of the bass and send an email with pics to Warwick asking info about the bass?

Yep, Warwick should be able to help based on serial and photo

Are you sure it's just a top?

If it's all quilted maple it would be lighter and maybe a bit more LXish... Very cool. 8:

*EDIT: Actually, that looks a lot like mahogany pommele...

I wondered if it was afzelia pommelé, but after looking at some pics, I think Jeff is right and that it's hog. The colour and pattern certainly looks pretty similar to this photo of the mahogany pommelé top on my $$:

But note: different pics make the top look quite different. The other pics in my thread http://forum.warwick.de/10-warwick-bass/13684-mahogany.html#post208182
make it look very dark, but some of the shop's pics made it look much lighter:

And yes, I suspect it's not just a top - it seems to go too far round the body for that. But what seems odd is that in the hidden neck-through the wood is in 2 pieces, so it looks like a 4-piece body overall. I'd have expected just a 3-piece.

I said quilted maple, thinking that it has a high polish Amber or similar colour finish, but you may be right, it could be mahogany pommele or another pommelè wood.

Looks like he's selling it locally instead of trading with me. I've asked him to send me more info anyways so that I can let you guys know more. Don't see these very often (or at all?). Too bad. Cheers!

:x Ah, yes, I hadn't thought of the possibility that it could have a coloured finish on top of the maple. You're right Nacho, that might be it. Quilted maple is certainly much more common than mahogany pommelé.

True dat. But just for the record, I only said that it looks like hog-pom, not that it necessarily was hog-pom. It might be. But being the owner of an LX that has an amber high-polish finish over flammed maple, I could certain see that being quilted maple just as easily...
