I couldn't resist and pulled the trigger. It's an Ibanez SR605 and since they are no longer being made I got it from a seller in France. I can't wait.

They were typically Wenge and Bubinga, right?

As for the year.... This bass is a bit of anomaly. It looks as though someone forgot to stamp the last bit of the serial number. Based on the build specs, it is estimated to be a 97 or 98.
That's pretty interesting. The color looks like bubinga, but the grain looks like wenge. Does it have a volute? I think if it were '97-8 it would have one. If not, it is probably older, but I am not a Thumb historian. Hoggles will likely know the answer.

Well, as beautiful as this bass looks and sounds, it unfortunately has some serious neck issues. I had to send it back.

Damn, it sounded fantastic, but it was almost unplayable. It had a bad “Ski Jump”.... Notes started fretting out around the 19th fret. It’s really too bad. I don’t think it was going to be possible to get the relief out of the neck. I’m pretty bummed. Oh well. At least I’m not stuck with it. I’ll find another Thumb NT.
Yeesh! That toally sucks.

Today I went on a Chorus Quest. I did my due diligence, hitting up three stores and trying out five different pedals. My thoughts on each:

Walrus Audio Julia. This was one of the better ones. It was also the most expensive of the bunch. It added a brightness to the top end that was very slap-friendly, but probably won't be everyone's cup of tea.

DigiTech Nautila. This does both chorus and flanger. The chorus seemed to add a lot of bottom end (not what I wanted). The flanger was pretty cool.

TC Electronics Corona Tri-Chorus Plus. This was OK, but nothing special. I've heard demos of the regular Corona and the Corona Mini that I liked better than anything I got out of this today.

MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe. This was probably the best one I tried all day. This or the Julia. This one also pulled double-duty as a flanger.

Mooer Ensemble Queen Bass Chorus. This one was good for the price, but didn't blow me away. It had a little too much tremolo effect going on for my liking. But I'm still going to award them some bonus points for having the smallest footprint of the day.

None of them really moved me as much as the demo I saw on YouTube of the EHX Bass Clone. I decided to go home, watch some back-to-back demos of the MXR and the EHX, and either drive back out and get the MXR, or place an order for the EHX.

TL;DR: Incoming!!!

mmm well I have gone a bit crazy of late...Like waay crazy..I moved to a very remote community and in my new job no longer pay rent so despite incredible fishing.. playing bass will take up a lot of my downtime (this is what I tell myself anyway). SOOOO my gear incoming list is stupid but lots of fun things ahead!

Carvin B2000 Head. N.O.S at a very good price and 1300W@ 4 ohms through a cab that can hopefully handle it is going to be pretty epic!
Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra. Cannot wait!!
Cioks Adam Link power supply
Boss Gt-1b multi-effects. I don't have any other effects except tone shaping so I wanted something cool but cheaper to explore what I like/will use (delay, verb, etc)
EMG BQC Preamp for my Spector- Electronics are loud and horrible-boost only rubbish and I'm really interested with all the tweaks this thing can do (cheap off ebay lol)
EMG 45JAX's again horrible passives in my Spector so these will hopefully be cool. Looking forward to kitting it out because it is a very fun bass to play but the electronics are so buzzy and non-responsive. (cheap off Ebay)

I was devastated to not be able to justify buying Lorenzo's incredible NT5. Such a great bass and bloke!! I really stuffed him around and he was so great to me. The cost of import duty and taxes plus shipping was close to 2/3 of the asking price of the bass and put it far over any equivalents in the market. Unfortunately I realised this after I had been saving for ages to buy it...ergh someone please buy this beauty!!

Anyway so my final purchase and last for a very long time!! Is a 1994 Thumb NT6. There was two Nt6 thumbs for sale in the world at the time I bought this (one crazy expensive one in Japan) and it just so happened to be in Australia from a warwick collector selling his collection. It wasn't cheap but it is old and looks like it should. Goes in the post today!!

Pics and thumb love to follow!
Thank you for your kind words. I hope you found your dream Thumb
