Let's talk fuzz pedals! What are some of your favorites or lemons?

I just got a killer deal on an early Wren and Cuff Hella Fuzz that looks like it was modded for bass. I've had the pleasure of having many good - to great - to fantastic fuzz pedals on my pedalboard.. but maaaan does this one have "IT" Super lows as in zero low-end loss, a fantastic blend function and the shape knob has a huge range.

Very impressed!! Here are some pics.

I mainly like muffs, and having found the Stomp Under Foot Civil Unrest a few years ago, I haven't felt the need to search any further. Although I've heard some demos of the Earthquaker Hoof that sure got my attention. If only it had a mid knob... or can it do that with the tone and/or shift controls?

If I had a bigger board and/or a more aggressive band, I'd definitely be looking into the Malekko B:Assmaster. That thing is evil, in all the right ways.

I thought the IdiotBox Cool Buzz was pretty cool when I tried it, but I need knobs, goshdarnit.

I use a mxr bass DI... I am totally hooked to that..... in combination wit an Ampeg is really killer sound . Example : the precision sound on QOTSA - go with the flow.

I've been suing the MXR Blowtorch for a while now, and am starting to really dig it. Its probably not super fancy but its a good, very tweakable workhorse. it can go from a little bit of tubey breakup to weird wooly synthy mess. Stick a whammy in front of it for seriously glitchy fun!

    Wounded Paw Attack Goat here

Best one I have tried. Pedals are hard to try here. I wish I got a Creation Grizzly Overdrive
Would like to try EBS Multi-Drive

This thing sounds phenomenal (if it works). Sometimes it just generates a hum when you hit one of the switches. So I kick it in/out using my Mosquito Blender pedal instead.

If I have to describe its sound: Do you know the song "Plugin Baby" by Muse? This plus the Pigtronix Bass Envelope Phaser nail that tone and then some. The fuzz sounds raunchy as if something in your stack is broken. I totally love it! and use it more often then my Darkglass Duality or my several Big Muff versions.

I don't use fuzz, yet ;), but I have a great distortion pedal by COG Effects.

I got another Wounded Paw pedal - The Battering Ram
Was playing in a Rock Trio Tuesday night and noticed when the Fuzz is isolated I lost my mix/hearing

This is the fist time I can remember being 'buried in the mix'
Sorted now (and it's a great pedal btw)

Mine stopped working completely, so did the one my friend had bought.
Poor build quality therefore seems guaranteed with Redwitch products.
    Shame! It sounded phenomenal.
Sadly I won't ever buy any Redwitch product again based on my experiences.

Now the fuzz stack consists of this:
    • Darkglass Duality
    • Way Huge Russian Pickle
    • Gamechanger Audio Plasma Pedal
    • Beetronics Royal Jelly (arrives on friday evening this week)
My fave so far is the Plasma Pedal, but the Russian Pickle has a more well known sound so I often use that instead.
Plasma Pedal is gated by design so you can play very fast staccato stuff with it and really stand out - It sounds very 'Jack White' if I have to describe it.
Once we start writing original songs again the Plasma will probably get a lot more playtime.

The new one, Royal Jelly, has two circuits - overdrive and fuzz. The fuzz part has two seperate levels which you can kick in and blend with the overdrive and clean tone.
I am expecting organic sounding magic from this pedal. Like the other fuzzboxes I have bought it is not cheap but man! The demos on the internet are very nice indeed!

I thought about putting this in the "pedals you'd like to try" thread, but I'm not man enough (or woman enough, for that matter) for this one. Freaking brutal.
