Hi Dr Strange,

And welcome to the forum. This is a beautiful guitar, thanks for posting pictures :)
A little bit of history, you know this guitar comes from a totally different "Framus" company. The legendary Framus, was owned by Fred Wilfer, Hans Peter Wilfer's father.
Company ender (bankruptcy 0 in 1977.
Hans Peter Wilfer started Warwick in 1982, and brought Framus back in 1995, as a part of Warwick GMBH

So, we don't keep all the informations from the old Framus, we cannot find a guitar via the SN... But we do have a Vintage Framus Specialist, that knows a lot about the old guitars, so he can help us :)

From what I see,
- The neck is multi laminated neck, used by framus back then. It has a great stability, and it is looking good too :)
- top is spruce
-back is flamed maple

Pickups are Framus, made by mr Vlado Hansal. He later started MEC company, that is the official pickup supplier for Warick and Framus today.
working at the electronics is tricky, you should remove the pickups first, so you have some large holes.

Please let me know if I can help you further.

Welcome to the forum again :)

Hi Dr. Strange,

This is a very beautiful BL 15 guitar in an good and original condition. The finish is nature. Florin gives you many information over the wood. The fingerboard is ebony with inlays from mother of pearl and binding around. The pickups are also developed in cooperation with Bill Lawrence, Vlado Hansal was the department chief for the electronic parts by Framus in the 70s.

The BL 15 is an rare Framus guitar, the value is sure open for negotiation. I have seen Bl-12 guitars from the self series they have prices between 950 - 1100 €, thats the minimal value for the BL 15, an collector pay sure more. Regrettably I haven´t the new price in the catalog from the 70s. I have only an price for the BL-12 from 1978 there was by DM 790.- in this time.

Mr. Vlado Hansal repair and replace the Electronic from Framus vintage guitars today, he is the right specialist for such cases. Glad can I make the contact to him. Mail me easy over the address from the vintage questions on the website. Here is an Link to the BL on our site
of the museum.

With many regards

I think this is an over optimistic expectation. These guitars rarely surpass the 500€ barrier in ebay and around 750€ getting them from second hand shops.

Hey, that's great news. I dind't knew that. Thanks, Andreas!

Solid plates in a guitar of that period? Hard to believe even for a Billy Lorento model. Early Lorentos had solid spruce tops and solid maple backs, but AFAIK, not in the late '60s.

About the multi-ply laminated "Everstraight" neck (Everstraight was the name Hopf used for it, no idea of the name Framus used for it if they ever used any), I always wondered what wood they used in these necks. It looks like beech to me, but it's hard to tell. Anyone knows it for sure?

Some guys see it like a funny or scary feature for a stable and durable guitar neck. I cannot agree these critics. In my personal expeince these necks use to age well even without a truss-rod. I've heard of a few warped without any metal reinfocement inside, but most of the necks of this type I had were perfectly straigh and stable, even without truss-rods. Keep in mind that this same technique was used to make aircraft propellers in the past and they were intended to stand a huge amount of pressure and stress.

Do you still have this guitar? Where are you located? I sold one in Nova Scotia that looked exactly the same back in 2012, been looking for it since.

Hi
I was never the owner. I made then guitar ready to play.
But the owner is since 50 Years the owner. So its not
the piece of guitar you sold.
So I do not still have the Guitar here.
But I can tell you, that the guys from Framus
Andreas Egelkraut, Vlado Hansal and
Hans Peter Wilfer, helped me not only on this Guitar.
Ask them if you need further stuff.

I am the current owner. Bought it in Nova Scotia and 2012 sounds right. Sold most of a very large collection of vintage gear. Going to sell the rest expect for a few I play. The BL15 has actually never played it since purchased. The person I bought it from who wants to buy it back is free to contact me at [email protected]
