    So, it's a synth for bass ?
    Seen the video of EHX, they say that's it's OK for bass, down to the low A string. I guess it has difficulties to track below, hence your remark about the volume above the 10th fret.

    It actually works better with a guitar since it is easier and more common to play chords and arps on those, and being an octave higher is also a big pre when using the Smellotron.
    But yeah it removes the tone of your bass completely if you want. Has a blend function though that allows you to dial in your bass tone as well. I'll try and hook it up in a way so that the mellotron plays one octave higher then my bass does, this might blend even better. I have a OneControl Mosquite Blender that allows me to have parallel fx loops.

    It's a synth for whatever instrument you could plug in it... results may vary, OFC, because I think they made it with eggslicers in mind. :)
