I am thinking of replacing the passive MEC Jazz pickups in my Corvette Standard fretless with an aftermarket set that would be hum-canceling when both are at the same volume...like a standard Fender Jazz. Would I be able to do this with the stock blend pot and factory wiring harness, or would I need to replace the pots entirely and go with a volume-volume-tone arrangement?

I am hoping that I can leave everything as-is, and just swap out the pickups...

    Any and all input welcome!

No problem - just swap the pickups and leave the wiring intact with the blend control.

It will work fine, I've done this very mod on Corvettes more than once.

    ;)

Yes it is, but if if you want to keep the blend, you're good to go.

I've tried both in my 'Vettes with various passive pickups.

It just comes down to whether you're a vol/vol/tone or a vol/blend/tone kinda guy.

    ;)

My favourite passive combination is Barts with CTS 250k pots and a vol/blend/tone. I'm tempted to do it to my Ash 'Vette (I have some new Barts in a cupboard ready to go), but it sounds so good as it is I just can't do it!

    :d

I'f I can lay my hands on a fretless Ash 'Vette, that's what I'll be doing.

    :)

i don't know which i like more, i have both set ups.i tend to play with both pups full on, so the blend is kind of wasted on me just makes turning the vol up/down faster with one knob.
