Hi guys

Just wondering how exactly does a Colored Flamed Maple AAA 3/8" over a swamp-ash back looks like? This custom option is listed as £136.00 which is the cheapest flamed maple warwick offers (and also friendly to my wallet!)

So does anyone have pictures of this wood or better... on a warwick corvette bass? :d

Considering putting this wood (or bird's eye poplar if the flamed maple doesn't look good)

So far, my custom will either be (from cheapest to most expensive):

Warwick corvette swamp-ash 4-string PASSIVE pickups and EQ
Maple neck with Satin finish
High gloss finish
ACTIVE P/J pickups

OR

Warwick corvette swamp-ash 4-string active pickups and EQ
Coloured flamed maple AAA OR Bird's eye poplar 3/8" top over swamp-ash body
Maple neck with satin finish
High gloss finish (Might go with burgundy red but not sure if it will look too bright over the swamp-ash?)

OR

Warwick corvette swamp-ash 4-string PASSIVE pickups and EQ
Coloured flamed maple AAA OR Bird's eye poplar 3/8" top over swamp-ash body
Maple neck with satin finish
P/J active pickups
Sunburst finish

OR

Warwick corvette swamp-ash 4-string active pickups and EQ
Maple neck with satin finish
Maple fretboard with satin finish
High gloss

As you can see, i'm a maple geek  so definately will go with a maple neck with a smooth satin finish. I'm trying to keep my custom under £1,300 inc. dealers discount of 20% (As I was quoted I would get which surprised me because I thought I'd get something like 5% discount )

Thanks all!

That's the one:
Warwick Basses Amps & Rock'n Roll

It is beautiful :)

:eek:Yikes! That is very sexy!!!

About the flamed maple being coloured... If I was to choose to apply a transparent burgundy finish over it, would it look too dark? The flamed maple is coloured as it is as I see in a sort of light brown/yellow-ish colour compared to a bright yellow ish colour on uncoloured flamed maple tops.

Also which custom shop choice out of the 3 would you suggest? I'm in a hard rock band against two guitarists (I wouldn't say they are that loud because in some songs, there are some mellow parts).

Last question first: Loud Rock ? Go P-J.

Trans burgundy too dark ? Yup. I've got
trans crimson gloss over mahogany and
it is what it is, cuz 'hog ain't a beautiful
wood especially .... but the back of the
neck on same ax is figured maple thaz
not easily visible under the trans color.
[Bass is completely crimson except FB.]

But you know that this "Colored Flamed Maple" is naturally colored. So the bass I gave you the link, that's a natural color, it is not tinted.

Those are some seriously lustful basses! But are they all colour flame maple? The last one looks quilted to me...

But you know that this "Colored Flamed Maple" is naturally colored. So the bass I gave you the link, that's a natural color, it is not tinted.

So without any finish on the colored flame maple top, it is natural looking like all other flamed maple woods then? If this is true, then what is the difference between this colored flame maple wood compared to the more expensive flamed maple AAA at £200?

Thanks! :d

Quilt and flame are the same wood, no control
over how an individual tree, or even part of the
tree, will pattern. There's even some figured
maple thaz kinda in between ... but not used
so much for appearance pieces cuz buyers will
usually want wood that is clearly one pattern
or the other, but they're really just variations
of the same figured maple effect.

Inneressing what Flo points out about colored
figured maple. I spoze if you could get enuf
natural contrast in some colored flame, then a
darker trans color finish may not be a problem,
if the natural pattern has the contrast to easily
be visible thru the trans color.

After all, burgundy really brings out the mids !

So this: Warwick Basses Amps & Rock'n Roll is natural. This is how it looks without any paint.
And you see it has both horizontal, and vertical stripes, very nice grain.

Do you guys think that Nirvana Black would look great on this Coloured Flamed Maple ??? I mean, it looks great (to me) on "normal" flamed maple, but since this Coloured Flamed Maple is already darker, I don't know...
