Hi Guys , looking for suggestions and advice as to how i can finish this streamer body , so i can put it back together , it was a horrible green , it was sanded , painted and varnished , which i just wasn't happy with , so I've sanded it right back to this , had it dunked at one of those pine stripping workshops , sanded it again , and just want to stain it some kind of mahogany / brown colour and finish with some kind of matt wax .. ???

i've looked on here for other threads and youtube , but just feel like i would like to hear some advice before i have another go at trying to stain it / finish it .. Thank You in advance DSC_0079.JPG DSC_0081.JPG

With those remnants of the green still in there, I would choose to go for translucent black, either matte or high gloss. That way you can still enjoy the woodgrain in there.

That would be my choice. Not sure about the wax, satin lacquer might be good.

I have done some darker stains before and used a few different top coats. Easy and awesome finish is PolyX Osmo so awesome. This is a waterbased wax like finish that is super tough. I agree with Marco and suggest a darker stain like a black. I would suggest watching some vids on youtube. BigD guitars is an awesome stainer. That heavily figured Ash is different than most woods to stain but with a bit of research i am sure you will get there. Once black hits those pore lines though it will be almost impossible to get out so make sure you are sure before hand.

You could also use hard wax - easy to apply and very nice.
This is whet I used for the last couple of guitars I built. The more layers you use, the shinier it gets.

Thanks .. though tbh i really was aiming for a matt finish , with a dark mahogany tint ,
    not sure what the wood is .. ? .. don't think it's Ash , i did know but have forgotten ! ? ..

it's a single P/up Streamer Std , made in germany , i've previously checked the serial number etc ..

thanks for the Hard wax suggestion , i'll check that out ..
