My mate was at Wacken and saw The Rotted's last gig with him. Dunno if he used that monster Dark Lord there, but apparently he jumped in the crowd with his bass near the end! :D
Best of luck with whatever you get up to next man.
A Nottingham gig would have been cool, will be back at uni by then. Could imagine seeing him at The Maze, seen some acoustic guitar virtuoso types there so would reckon he'd go down well!
However, I will be seeing Meshuggah on the 13th of September, so will be seeing another Warwick endorsee...
Glad to see you've ordered this man... And only a 2.5 month wait, not bad at all!
PS Ian, when I have the money I am also thinking of getting a 6 string non-broadneck Streamer with blue LEDs... I had the idea ages ago, but would it be too similar to yours? (aka plagiarism!) :)
This is pretty crazy, since I've been at Uni I haven't been able to check the forum much, but that bass stood out to me on the gallery... And now I find it belongs to the bassist for Gorerotted, who my best friend here is really into! Small world huh...
Btw, I can't wait to hear some new...
I've been away from the forum for almost 2 months, and this was the first thread I had to read... But I never expected Ian to suddenly have such a change of heart after all that thought!
I can understand your concerns about money, but if your not going to be broke afterwards then I would say...
In an interview with Porcupine Tree, John Wesley said it 'pee-zo' but Stephen Wilson said it 'pee-et-zo' which I can imagine being closer to its correct pronunciation... I always seem to say it 'pee-zo' though!
Love that DVD! And yeah his tone can be a little unimpressive, the opposite of his playing! But hearing about him using a prototype Bongo 6 is quite interesting, must have liked playing a standard 5 on some of the new tracks. Can't remember what he was using when I saw them at Download Fest this...
I thought it may have been aimed at me... If it was, no I'm not saving for a JE Buzzard (although Jan may want me to), but for a custom Streamer.
Its hard being a bassist on a budget, its even harder once you discover the Warwick custom shop!
I'm glad Warwick care this much for their fans (I won't say customers as I'm not there yet!), they seem to give you everything you could ask for!
Now I can compare UK and Euro prices with ease! :)
Can someone give me a quick run-through on fretboards? On my dream bass I settled for wenge as I want a bass with a dark board, and I have a bass with a rosewood board already... And ebony costs more I think? But on the subject of playability / tone, I'm kinda going in blind. Any thoughts?
Cheers
Yeah I'd say the ebony board...
And I've tried mocking up my bass, which is a 6 non-BN, and its pretty hard to find one to start with in the gallery, so I'd let Jan off!
Ian, if you get high polish it would be even more similar to my dream bass! I'm kinda in a knot here, in a way I...
Brilliant! Must weigh as much as a small house though...
BTW Jan, how come you love 8 strings so much? I've never played one mind, what am I missing out on?
Haha I just caught up with this, glad you followed up my suggestion with so much detail!
Oh and Florin, I really love the sound of the 'XBASS' inlay. Sounds like a really nice finishing touch, and makes the bass sound futuristic too!
The Dark Lord has nothing on you with its .175! That bass will kill... If you want I'll make an estimate on how tense the string will be (I am a science geek.) :D
Oh right back on topic, my bass is this beauty:
Ibanez K5 (Fieldy signature model). Although I am a Korn fan I mainly bought...
