Need some advice here. I've got an extra active EMG J pickup I was thinking of installing in the bridge or neck of my thumb bass to give it some different tone range. Has anyone tried this before? They are both active PU, so in theory this should work.

I am interested to hear how much of a difference in tone the brass makes. It's more dense than regular brass. It was definitely a challenging build. Here's the final cut.

I never thought I'd say this, but after putting a 2 band Glock into this bass, I'm questioning putting a set of Delano JC5 HE/M2's in my Thumb. I've always liked the MEC tone/ punch/ sound profile, but after putting this preamp in the bass I'm starting to debate putting a new set in.

It would be much more fixable on your bass. You could buy a replacement from warmoth or try to straighten it yourself. That's a nice bass to just retire from a warped neck.
Thanks for the feedback on the post and I'm glad to hear you were offered another option because in all my correspondence with H. P. Wilfer it was not discussed, mentioned, or given as a variable but I did purchase it used.
