Maybe an additional equalizer could fix your problem? Or a better coordination with the guitarplayers... or both? Do you fight with the sound you hear on stage or the sound for the audience?
You`re right... and I`m totally relaxed;), but how can someone compare two different sounds, judge them and give an advice what works better without any audio example? For me the max-setup on the bass showed up as the better way, but as I said: It depends on a few different preconditions.
Well... what`s wrong with that? But once again: it`s all theory. Let YOUR ears decide what works better! Nobody here can take that off your shoulders! Lots of different opinions here and no one ever heard the different sounds you talked about... Crazy!
In my humble opinion it depends on a couple of things: music style, your setup, the players abilities and so on... You play Rock, Punk or Metal? All knobs on max! My opinion! You do Jazz or other more quiet styles? Ok, that`s another matter. I don`t like too much possible ways to get my sound. I...
I like to change strings regularly, but it depends on the music style . Someone likes the clarity and brilliance of new strings, another one exact the opposite. I also like the feel on the instrument with new strings. But thats my way... Guitarstrings lose a lot of tone after a few weeks...
