Hi. 2 active EMG - 40DC without preamp!
Try it! My Streamer STd 5 Rockbass with it have really killing rock sound! And it's a 1000 times much better, then stock pups + preamp ;), as for me.
Ok, Michael J, I read about Jonas setup, but I newer saw him playing that way in youtube clips. Maybe you can post some crazy links?
Hello, Golem, it's my setup trick :
set the action at 24 approx= action at 12 &= 2mm for g and 2,5 for B
Try it, I think you like it too:P
As for me 2,5 mm for B at 24 fret and 2 mm for G at 24 fret = best setting ever.
And where (in web: youtube, myspace, etc.....) I can see mr.Hellborg playing with 20 mm action ???????????? I think his action pretty low
Hello, Tom. I have some same problems with setup with my Rockbass Streamer STD 5. But litle by litle all the things (nut, neck relief, action, pups) settled it their places perfectly  So, don't give up.
If just-a-nut setting at correct height then:
1. In standart tuning. Check...
Hello nicko. I am trying '50 D'dadarios on my Paul Grey Ibanes in standart tuning and I can't get that huge tension. In the end I just detune the whole bass to D-G-C-F and everything goes OK.
50's in standart tuning = absolutely unplayable for me.
Hy, I have the same problem with my Corvette $$ with Warwick Black Label and EMP strings.
The easyest way to solve it:
1. Set intonation on 12 fret
2. Check intonation at 24 fret (usually at 24 fret notes rings a little sharper)
By the way. Check pickups height. May be its its...
Hy, all Robert's fans around the world! After watching and hearing him playing with Ozzy and Metallica on CD&DVD I think that action on his basses is pretty high. Is it true?
P.S. My fav Metallica bass player - Jason Newsted and his Spector on Black album Rooks!!!!!!!!!!!
You can do it !!!!! Neck relise must be OK! Action & intonation can be reset by 5 minutes.
I think the only problem - is Just-a-Nut :? So, be careful when filling slots. And good luck!
Hey, Gastrok. All you need is just find "right" strings for you tunning.
As for me 135 for Low C - is not the best choice, becouse of high tension.
I think 120-125 will work better .
For other strings 45-105, or 50-110 - will be OK.
Peace/Mike
I am with you, man. I am trying to raise the action 100000000000 times on my both BO 5 string Warwicks. But finaly I find thats standart setup (from manual) is the best for me: 2mm - for G string and 2,5 mm - for B under 24 fret.
By the way. I don't using alein keys for measures!!!! Old metal...
Hello. This is from Roger Sadowsky site :
"Our recommended pickup height is 5/64" at the G-string and 3/32" at the B-string (or E on a 4-string bass). Measure from the underside of the string to the top of the polepiece while holding the string down at the last fret."
That's work
Thanx for answer, Flo. I know now, that I am on right way.
P.S. It was a fest in Chernivci near Romania last weekend, we had a lot of fun there. I hope some day we 'll cross the border and come to Bucharest  See you.
