Let me get this straight: you want the output of a certain preamp to go through the powertube of the Quad, right?
That won't work since the fx loop sits after the quadrumatrix, which includes the powertube. At least that's what I gather from the schematic in the manual. This goes d'accord with...
I just crank the gain. As I said, my unit starts clipping kinda fast. Maybe it's really the preamp tubes that are different. The ones I currently use are Tesla, I believe.
Maybe you could try to add a booster or swap the preamp tubes for ones with more gain. First I was worried when I got mine, because it startedto break up that fast :D
With my Corvette $$ it starts clipping at gain around noon, with my thumb around 9 to 10 o clock. I have the gain fully cranked to get the nastiest overdrive possible :)
The FX loop on the Glock has a footswitch and is parallel, so I just blend in some of the clean signal to get a fuzz-like but...
Holy moly.. That IS some serious gear porn right there...
This is what I currently use. The preamp of the Quad goes to the fx loop of the Glock for full on overdrive.
Just use alpha pots with the correct value. As long as you only need a normal pot and not a stacked one, you're good to use anything that has the right value.
Warwick have the schematics in the support area of their website. If you don't find anything you can always write them a mail, I found the support to be very quick and helpful.
Hey guys,
I'm selling my '00 build Thumb BO 5 in natural finish.
It's in good condition for its age. Just a few normal scratches from the belt and some usual wear around the pups. Otherwise I'd say it's been holding up pretty well.
Last year the MEC preamp died on me so I had to change it for...
Hey guys.
So I'm the proud owner of both a Thumb 5 BO and a Vette $$6. The $$ being my main axe for seven years now and I love it. Around summer last year I got a great deal on a used Thumb, so I went for it without giving it a second thought and I really enjoy the midgrowl my $$ can't provide...
Hi guys,
i just wanted to comfort my vette a bit with a new set of strings, waxing and oiling when this happened:
I took the old strings off and this little thing, which holds the just-a-nut went off, in two pieces.
I guess it is still playable due to the pressure of the strings...
