I would seriously try to keep them both. You'll regret ever selling even just the standard because the prices of new Wicks is going up. You'll have to spend a lot more to replace it later on and will probably miss it. Maybe you could work some O/T for a few weeks and get the extra money that way.
Actually the G string seems fine. It's a fantastic little bass IMO. I Just raised the saddles up a smidge and kept the neck nice and flat. All better now. I really like the Carvin but I will definitely sell it and get a Warwick Fretless.
Trust me I meant no Offense to anyone. But I can see how It could have been taken the wrong way. If my Grandfather was Korean and worked in a Little Korean Violin shoppe, I would feel that way about about the Korean Basses. It may be stereotypical but in America, the Germans are regarded as...
The Sperzel Lock is the cause of the string breaking. I've never ever had a string break before but it broke right where the lock makes contact with the string. I prefer rounds too but The fretless board it too minty to gouge up. It is Ebony but I still fear the round wounds on a fretless neck...
Great Point DiMarco. Just a 1/4 turn should probably do the trick I guess. I got a great deal on this bass and had no Idea what strings were on it. The G string actually broke when I loosened the Sperzels Lock so I just got a whole new set. I really want a Wick Fretless but this is pretty cool...
I put new Flats on My Fretless bass and I used a lighter gauge strings. Now the action is just a bit too low. It was perfect before with the heavier strings. Should I raise the bridge, Turn the truss rod, or work on the nut? It's a Carvin USA Active Nerckthru Fretless bass.
There's no law that says you have to keep your left thumb behind the neck. I just bring it out front and I can hit the top frets on every and any bass. No Problem whatsoever. But.....You still need to pick out your bass to be comfortable for you and how you want to play it. Honestly, 95% of...
Cool! Thanks again. I kinda like the Raw sound versus the very clean sound in most of todays music. Everyone just sounds too much the same like they're just going through the motions with no real "feeling". I love the way Entwislte's bass sounded on many songs. Almost all of my Studio work has...
Thanks. Last night I actually found a way to record using the My Amps line out/tuner out. It's a lot cleaner and much warmer signal than the bass direct into the Laptop. Do you like Audacity? That's what I am using also. I am trying to write a complete song using The Dr880 & Audacity and it's...
I love Hipshots! They stay in tune for ever. Not sure about Schaller But I will always use the Hipshots as first choice. The only other Tuners I ever had stay in tune so well were stock EB 5 string tuners. The Hipshot's also have adjustable tension Via Allen Key which is a great feature.
With respect to earlier discussion, I picked up an '11 Fender J-Bass Special this week and it's definitely Plug & Play. I plugged it up with my exact Settings as I've been using with my $$ Streamer 5'r and all I had to do was crank the volume a bit higher. She growled and sounded sweet despite...
Sounds like a ton-o-fun. It would be cool to get a band together with a good friend. The four serious bands I've been in were with complete strangers. How do you like the Barts in your Ric? IMO Rics really shine when at a gig. It's like they know they're on stage. I did an entire show once with...
I thought it would be cool to know where we each are now and where we want to be as bass players in the future. I'll go first.
Right now I play my bass in my living room whenever I get the chance )about 10 hours per month.) I Jam to all types of music by ear. I play Rush, Nickelback...
I like my action very very low so I never resorted to raising it as a fix. One thing I will add is that I have always lived on the East coast of USA from NY to Florida. Mostly Humid weather by comparison I guess. As I ponder, I do remember other Fender problems I had. several had Low output from...
I have owned literally 100's of Fender basses. Yes 100's. I have been buying and selling Fenders for 30+ years. I use them for a Gig or two and then sell them for a profit(Usually). I have only ever had 2 or 3 with problems that weren't easily fixed myself. One I recall was high frets on the...
I remember seeing some older Warwicks with the less "fancy" W on the tailpiece. I believe that is legitimate hardware but I can't be 100% sure. The black is going to look really sweet.
