I have one in my Zoot custom deluxe, a thru-neck mahogany/maple bass.
It's the push/pull mid-switch one, runs at 18v.
It delivers much more clean bass than the MEC units in my Warwicks (a Corvette and Fortress One), the mids are especially prominent. I leave the push/pull down as the low-mids...
Shockwave is Asomodai on here, he worked some serious overtime to get the Vampyre sent to Incx (and rightfully deserves much credit, along with everyone else who was involved) and i'm sure that comment had no ill-meaning
I think he was just indicating that people should be extra vigilant when...
Had a looksee in the case last night and the part where the bridge end of the bass rests has been widened by the said strap button, i'll get a pic when i get the chance. Whether this makes a difference i have no clue (i kept my Corvette in the case for years before i bought the Fortress so it's...
Yeah it's definitely an 05 on the end, the last two digits are faint but in good light it's pretty clear. It was hard to photograph as the light was failing and i was using my phone
I had a look on the Fortress club thread and on page 2 (post 62) the Warwick/Framus Australia poster mentioned two new/old stock Fortresses that were being listed on eBay in 2008. Assuming these were German Warwicks could that be a possibility?
A new bass made from parts that were lying around...
The indents were on the earlier ones i think, this was sold to me as a '94 so it would make sense. See here for similar:

What looks like a scoop out of the back around the neck...
Yeah that guy had some nice Warwicks! I'd never sell my 'vette, it's done tons of gigs and still sounds the nuts.
A quick look around t'interweb (and the Fortress section on here) shows that Fortresses were made with other neck woods including Ovangkol. Meh, i'll just email Warwick!

Cheers for the info, the machine heads have the "W" logo and "WEST-GERMANY" written on them.
I solved the upside-down Fortress logo too, the truss rod cover was on the wrong way up (doh!)
So maybe the neck was damaged so the owner had a new one made in '05 but kept the original hardware...
Thanks man!
I'm not sure on the neck wood. It's darker than the Ovangkol on my Corvette but doesn't look like the Wenge that's on the fingerboard. It does however have the brass nut with individual adjusters on each string, this is what i find puzzling! I don't know when Warwick started using...
Hi
I am a bit puzzled about the serial number on my Warwick Fortress One. It starts with B and the last 2 digits are 05, which would indicate Feb '05?
However, i assume the Fortress was long discontinued by then, so i was wondering whether the neck was from a different bass?
I took the neck...
Hi all
I'm Steve from the UK, been playing bass for around 12 years and have been a proud Warwick owner for the last 7 or 8. Although i mainly play a Zoot nowadays i still break out the Warwicks as the necks are sooooooo nice!
I own a Corvette Standard Active (Swamp Ash one) and a Fortress One...
