Thomann are selling off their last few PS Starbasses at silly prices. They've only got gold FL 4-string and gold fretted 5,
There goes my resolution not to buy any more basses this year. :D
That's odd - I wonder why they put the Standard output jack in a different place so that it can't be used as a strap button?
Anyway, many people play acoustics with just one strap button: that button is attached to the bottom of the bass, and the other end of your strap is tied around the...
The input jack is often a problem, so you could try replacing it. But like Flo said, you can also just open up the compartment and try moving wires around to see if you can identify the problem.
:) It was a bit of a wild guess.
Anyway, that's an interesting suggestion you have there - I'll give it a go on my Thumb and see how the balance changes.
I don't know if this is what Glen means, but:
If you attach both ends of your strap to the top horn, then the bass balances pretty well, since that strap button is very near the centre of gravity of the bass.
If you use the straplocks in the normal way you can't do this, but you can do it if...
If you're really worried about the true-bypass aspect, then why not buy a true-bypass looper, so that you can use your Boss, but have it completely out of the signal path when you want it off?
I remember when the RB alien was first announced they said that the fretless would have lines. But it looks like that has changed, and on the website now it says they are unlined. And certainly the picture here
shows it without lines.
That is great news! I was kinda worried about you when you pulled out of the music scene a year or two back, so it's really good to hear how much you're back into it! :)
+1 to that, and to Luke's suggestion that you sort the intonation out after changing the strings.
But I have heard of people removing the spring from the bridge in order to get more room for intonation adjustment, and it works fine, so don't be afraid to do it if you need to.
I think the general rule is that you shouldn't expect to be able to swap necks between a RB and a Warwick. It might work, but don't count on it.
And then there's the fact that it's a short-scale neck. I would expect a short-scale neck to require the bridge to be positioned differently. In...
That's a great video - I look forward to more.
But what's even better about the video is this: it really makes me want to own a Thumb  ..... but .......... I already do!
I just need to get it out and play it a bit more
