Wednesday. Let's go from the end to the beginning. The VIPs are coming in now. Last night we had a nice little meeting with Scott Reeder, Rex Brown, and some more people. The evening was all about the so called Jam Classes. Joe Hubbard (his class was called the Hubbtones), Yolanda Charles...
Tuesday! What can I tell which is different than the previous posts? It was great again. The weather is beautiful, I see only smiling faces and the classes are good, there's great food and I enjoyed the jams again. I think it's unique to see a jam with the very famous drummer Dennis Chambers...
Those basses are very old. I don't know what pickups it are but I will check! The Warwick showroom has two parts. One with new Warwicks and a part with old ones. Nobby's, an Explorer kinda guitar, doublenecks, an Entwistle 8-string and many more.
The first real day was great! Where do I start? 83 students, 16 countries, great teachers, great food.. The last thing might not be that important, but of course we need it for the long days and dinner and lunch are especially great, because you just sit next to Tetsuo Sakurai, Hans-Peter...
Guys!
I'm at the Bass Camp in Bass Heaven, Markneukirchen. I will try to do a small report every day. Now text only, but I'll try to upload some pics asap.
Let's start with the bad news and end in a positive way! There will be no Bass Camp in 2017. This year is the fifth in this form and the...
I've seen those leather bags at the NAMM and they're really pretty! And well made. Inside is great too.
I'd prefer such a leather bag over a flightcase. A SKB-ish case or a soft case is great too.
I have two old heavy Warwick flightcases and they are in storage. Even empty they feel like...
I wear Gretsch, Souldier Straps, Hiwatt and Orange shirts. I got a lot of Warwick stuff: A gazillion shirts from the bass camp and some workers from the NAMM, a jeans jacket and a black jacket, a hoodie. I do some stuff for them, so I have a lot.
And now for the ear plugs, Shelbey. Nicolas...
About the back plate. Framus already has a wooden cover for electronics. The little things are like springs. You still have to screw the plate, but you can make it exactly on the same level as the body.
I think I told you a part of this before. Because of Andy Irvine I wanted a Fortress. If possible not a Rockbass (love the quality of those, btw) but a wenge necked one. I found one on the internet at a Dutch shop. It was a brand new and it was hanging in this shop since 1998, so almost 18...
Yes, new bass day! It's in! A brand new Fortress One in great condition. It was in a shop for almost 20 years and it has two very, very small dings. That's all! Everything is as new. Love it.
And guess what? I didn't knew this before I openend it yesterday, but it's all passive. I even pulled...
I once bought a very cheap cable and the jack just fell out of the input.. Strange but it was a bit slimmer than normal. I do have basses in which some cables it perfectly and in which others are very tight.
I guess a Warwick will never sound like a Fender. The very stiff neck makes it always a bit more aggressive. You could try more vintage sounding alnico pickups. Flatwounds maybe?
Very cool! One of these days my new bass arrives. A Fortress One which was in a shop since 1996 or '97. NEW! Bought it ftom the shop for a Squier price.
