I agree. I have a music man sterling w/ bassline pu & it cuts better than the LX as well as the $$. I'm not a eq tweeker, I run every thing flat as possible. My guitar player plays through an old 5150 with 2 marshall 4 x 12 cabs. So I battle on stage for frequencies to hear myself as well as in the mix. The LX sounds great, dont get me wrong, but i have to start messing with the eq to cut. I have had 2 rehearsals with my new SS1 & it cuts great so far, a lot of sizzle. I will need to see how it sounds at our next gig.8:

Please share with a follow up post after your gig. I'm curious about how you hear it.

I've got a MM Stingray that's about 17 yrs old, and a new NT Thumb. To me, they cut through closely, but the "bark" of the Thumb differentiates it from the guitars, bass drum, and keys. At least to my ears. I find myself reaching for the mid boost on the MM.

My dream bass is Warwick Thumb BO BN. And I got it from Adrian so, it is not any peace, it is the peace that Adrian took for himself, and knowing his reputation and endorser status, I have no doubt that serious selection has been made.

And I have pre Ernie Ball MM Sting Ray, 33 years old.
Sting Ray eats, at least my, Warwick.

Hello! I have been a long-time member of the the Streamer fan club! They are the #1 basses for me. Here are my babies (there is a SS2 added recently to the collection - will add a pic of it soon)

The difference is day and night! Here are the configs and descriptions of the basses:

1. Left> 87 SS1, cherry? (i was told cherry but it very different from the one on the right), wenge neck and fretboard, refretted, EMG pickups, EMG BQC preamp - a very clear, clean tone with less of mids in it - great for playing in the higher registers, relatively light bass, thinner neck than the other two

2. Middle> 93 SS1, maple body & neck, wenge fretboard, MEC pickups and 3-way preamp - agressive maple tone with lots of midrange in it - sometime you have to roll the mid back. Fantastic slap tone on the P pick-ups - on the heavier side due to the all-maple build

3. Right> 94 Streamer bolt-on (pre-LX), cherry body, 2012 replacement maple neck with wenge fretboard (recreated the original think profile and stamped with 93 serial number - original one had warped badly), Seymour Duncan active pickups and preamp (vintage) - a very woodsy, vintage acoustic tone - the Duncans preserve it well and recreate very good vintage P and J tones, lightest bass of the 3

Very gorgeous basses TorVic ! How s the difference between both SS considering the neck woods differences .

Also, the 87 SS1 is now strung ADGC, as a tenor bass. Suits that purpose well.

Hello sprocket, its a 1994 streamer bolt-on, I already had the same 4 strings and it was a really good bass.
