So, I'm thinking about adding a 6 string bass to my arsenal. My main players these days are Thumb 5 string fretted and fretless, NT and BO, basses.
I have been considering getting a Thumb NT or BO 6, but I am a bit afraid that the ergonomics will be too much to handle. I mean, the 5 string is already a bit of a challenge in terms of reach, weight and the "horizontal position" in which it hangs. However, I love the sound of 'em.
So, for those that have tried both variants (or even the 7 string versions!), how bad are they ergonomically compared to their 5 string counterparts? Would I be better off getting another kind of bass, if I'm going the 6 string route?
