It's probably a nice bit of wood but not helped by the finish.
Seems rather pointless to spec bird's-eye maple without a natural finish...

Truss rod stuck. But this is a non volute, easy repair.

Truss rod is about 100€ - I got my '88 thumb fixed for +/-300€; TR didn’t move an inch.
