Hi, I want to replace my passive MECs to better pups (long models?). I have tried to search information from the web without exact answers.

What good passive pups would you recommend?Brand and model.

E.g.
- Bartolini BA 59J1 L/LN --> I guess these would fit to my bass
- Bartolini BA 59J1 L/SN —> Is it ok to install short neck pup to my bass?
- Other like EMG, Seymour Duncan etc?

Thanks!

Hey Jani, welcome to the forum. Since your bass is a 5-string, both pickups have to be long.

Thanks. So what pickups you guys recommend?

I would go active, get a set of EMG X series pickups. Besides clarity and silent operation, they will offer you a much tighter low B string.

I actually like Bartolini a lot, and had no problem with low B. I don't know the model, but I chose the brightest one in the description, all Barts are pretty fat sounding anyway.

Thanks. I prefer not to go active at this point. And Bartolinis are hard to find from my location. One option is to try DiMarzio DP549 pups, those seems to fit to my bass and are available. Hopefully those are better.
