Lol I looked in my 89 dolphin recently.

No springs and the foam is a folded up insole :lol: no joke!

It also works as glue, to fresh up strings, the illuminating side dots are made of it (glow in the dark effect!)...

So, i found this :

And tried it on an old Ikea board.

Worked fast, fairly accurately.
It removed the varnish and "sandblasted" the veneer without removing it.
So, i tried it on the neck pocket of the buzzard :

It's not good enough. It removes the color and oil, but... It turns out that Zebrano is fairly soft, and the steel wheel attcks it way too hard. So i get a really nice, "sandblasted" look, but the Zebrano structure is way too fine and I won't be able to seal it again.
I guess I'll leave it as it is.
I like it that way anyway :)
